Folk Education Workshop: Wednesday 19 March, 9:30am – 4:00pm, The Stables, Wavendon

We’ve had a quick email from Gavin Davenport, who is involved in running a folk-based educational workshop at the Stables, Wavendon next Wednesday, under the aegis of EFDSS…

Here’s a quick summary of the workshop…

Using folk music and dance to enhance learning in schools
Wednesday 19 March, 9:30am – 4:00pm
The Stables, Wavendon

Professional development one-day course for teachers, educators and artists working in primary and secondary schools (relevant for key stages 1 – 5).

Gain knowledge, skills and resources to start using folk songs and music immediately in your teaching!

Differentiated parallel sessions focusing on using folk at key stages 1 & 2 and key stages 3 – 5 – in music, dance and other areas of the curriculum.

Facilitated by Carolyn Robson (leading folk arts educator with extensive experience using folk song and music in schools), with input from Kerry Fletcher (leading folk dance tutor and choreographer), Barry Goodman (folk musician, dancer and ex-Primary head) and Amy Holly (Dance Development Coordinator for Cambridgeshire). The day will also feature the local schools involved in the project, Stantonbury Campus and Loughton Primary School.
